Thank you for providing a lifeline to families facing dementia

I don’t think people realise how important Admiral Nurses are. When my Admiral Nurse comes to see me, I open the front door and she’s standing there with a beaming smile and a warm friendly face. Admiral Nurses are the only people that listen and help. And there should be more of them.

Every day, dementia specialist Admiral Nurses are there for families when they feel exhausted, overwhelmed and alone. Whether it’s via our Helpline, in clinics or in the community, our nurses give families the much-needed space to talk to someone who understands. For so many, their support is life-changing.

“I don’t think people realise how important Admiral Nurses are. My nurse, Maxine, was the first person throughout my journey to listen to what I had to say. She gives me time – I'm not rushed in and out.  I wish everyone with a dementia diagnosis had access to an Admiral Nurse. There should be more of them.” - Gail, who was diagnosed with young onset dementia in her fifties
