People living with dementia and their families need your help more than ever this Christmas.

In lieu of our carol concert this year, Glenda Jackson CBE has recorded a special video message:

You could help provide expert care and support to families in crisis.

Due to the pandemic, we sadly aren’t able to hold our annual Christmas carol concert this December which raises significant income for families facing dementia. With a difficult and uncertain winter ahead, and no funding from the government, we are reliant on our supporters to ensure our crucial services can continue to help everyone who needs them.

Coronavirus has been challenging for us all, but families facing dementia have felt particularly vulnerable.

Without normal support networks – from social groups and day centres to the daily respite given by family members, friends and neighbours – family carers have had little or no support for months, and caring for a loved one with dementia is often a physically and emotionally challenging, 24-hour-a-day job.

This is where Dementia UK’s Helpline comes in. Staffed by dementia specialist nurses – Admiral Nurses – the Helpline has been a lifeline for thousands of families facing dementia during the pandemic who desperately need expert and bespoke advice and support.

Since the start of the pandemic the number of people in crisis contacting our Helpline has increased by 39%. With many more months of uncertainty ahead of us, Dementia UK expects this increased demand to continue.

Will you make your gift today and help provide a lifeline to a family who has nowhere else to turn?

I was at breaking point before I picked up the telephone and called. Afterwards it felt like a weight had been lifted from my shoulders.

Your gift will help ensure that Dementia UK’s vital services, such as our free dementia Helpline, can keep running during our busiest ever period.

Together, we can provide a lifeline to people living with dementia:

  • A donation of £225 could fund a new specialist dementia nurse to run a full day of face-to-face appointments for families affected by young onset dementia (a diagnosis under the age of 65)
  • A donation of £1,125 could fund a new specialist dementia nurse for a whole week to support a community where people are struggling to access local dementia services
  • A donation of £3,120 could pay for a specialist dementia nurse to support 40 families on our free Helpline on a Sunday when other services are closed

Please make your gift today and help give support to a family when they need it most.

Thank you.
